summer mish mash

So here is a glimpse of my/our summer in no particular order. It is a mish mash of various locations, including Cannon Beach Oregon, Thetis Island BC, Lynn Valley North Van, Pender Harbour, and a couple of other randoms. Many were taken on my iphone because I had a lens malfunction on our holiday in Oregon so that whole trip was documented by phone. Our last summer before kindergarten….

I love these kids. I have gotten to photograph them a number of times now through the years. The tallest ballerina is the older sister of the younger brother and the little ballerina is their cousin. Here are some other posts of these beautiful families from the past if you are interested: , , . My blurbs in the previous posts capture who these people are and what they mean to me so I will let you read them to tell the story. These photos were taken before Christmas but were given as gifts to the family so I waited to post until now. Enjoy.

Bishop Family Portraits

I met the Bishop family in their Woodwards apartment building flat in Vancouver BC a few weekends ago. They are 4 months fresh to being back in Vancouver after an 8 year stint in New York City, where they were married and had both their children. Their style is funky, kids striking and adorable, energy contagious, and personalities warm and friendly. These kids really love each other, even at such an early age. Their affection was so apparent. Big brother R even told me it was his job to protect little sister S. I love that they invited me in to their space, and let me move things around, and were so casual about this shoot. It was a very fun hour we spent together. I hope our paths cross again. All the best as you transition back to Canadian life!

dear friends and their boys

I met Christine in 2001, almost 13 years ago, when we roomed together at our church retreat. Christine burst through the door to our room chatting non-stop about their mishaps on the drive up and how Brent ate a whole bag of cookies! Little did I know this friendly girl with the cookie-eating boyfriend would become one of my closest friends and together we would share several trips including Summerland, Pender, and even Africa over the years. We have been in a few homegroups together, served on committees together and for the past 3 years have lived about 20 steps from each other and share a driveway. We have been through the ups and downs of pregnancy and parenting and have shed many tears of pain and joy during this time. I can’t even write that bit without a tear splashing down my cheek. These are very important people to me. Baby Lucas, 9 days old in these pictures, was prayed for, anticipated and loved for 2 years prior to his arrival. These photos carry much more for me than a typical family shoot…they carry the emotions of this journey of love, friendship, heartache and abundant joy. He represents more of my faith than I can ever put words to. And big brother Jasper…well these photos speak for themselves. There is no greater amount of joy in one child, I promise you. Even my own 🙂 I love him like one of my own. Sorry there are so many photos in this post. I couldn’t access my filter for some reason. Enjoy…
